Shhhh! My Cyndi's Secrets!

My Dear Friends,

Veterans Day has come and gone. There were lots of presentations, media coverage, and of course those retail and online SALES! Through all the hoopla we maintain our FREEDOM thanks to the men and women who have served in our military. I say that we need to remember these brave individuals beyond a single day or a holiday weekend. We need to honor and take care of Veterans and their families EVERYDAY!   It is my privilege then to have been given a behind the scenes pass for the Military Channel’s Homeward Bound Telethon.

Your little Cyndi Sleuth was there…………….Psssssst! Come with me!IMG_5519 - Copy (632x640)

HOMEWARD BOUND, a live national telethon in support of American veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) was broadcast on the Military Channel  last weekend.  If you missed this important event, let me take you “behind the scenes”. Enjoy my interviews with the celebs and with those involved. Take a peek at my fun photos.  Most importantly, you can still participate in this great cause. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us who enjoy our FREEDOM to take care of our vets and their families. Do so today. Visit HomewardBoundTelethon.org or call 1-855-824-7873. The mission of “My Cyndi’s Secrets! – Shhhh! ™” is to share Joy worldwide. Find the JOY in giving to others.

This fundraising event was presented by the Haven from the Storm Foundation.   This is a non-partisan mission having a goal of improving the lives of returning military service men and women, including those affected by traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological health conditions.

One of the most popular performances of the night was by Dennis Edwards and the Temptations Review. Below is a shot of the group performing .  (Photo by Glen Lipton) DSC_8675 (640x427)

I was treated to a special serenade from these talented men.  As many of you know, I am originally from Detroit so this was  extra special to me. I LOVE the Motown sound that The Temptations have always represented.  Click the link:

After our interview Dennis Edwards and The Temptations Review sat down and signed holiday cards for the military. It was fun chatting with the guys in the press room.

I had the opportunity to chat with these high spirited and very handsome men. Indeed I am a lucky girl. Click this interview and find out part of why I love my job! LOL! Shhhh!

The event was at the American Legion Hall #43 in Hollywood.IMG_5512 (640x480)

There’s so much history at this particular American Legion.  Walking the halls you can feel the spirit of countless celebrities from Bob Hope, Laurel and Hardy, Marilyn Monroe and numerous others who have shown their support for the American Heroes in the military.

I pose with a photo of Marilyn Monroe who loved to entertain the troops and was a military favorite. IMG_5476 - Copy (509x640)

Another highlight for me was meeting Tony Award winning legend, Ben Vereen. He is famous for his performances in the Broadway productions of PIPPIN and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. He has worked the stage and the screen for projects like SWEET CHARITY, CHICAGO, FOSSE, HAIR, ALL THAT JAZZ, WICKED and the list goes on and on. Here is a photo of Ben performing for this great cause followed by my interview. (Photo by Glen Lipton) DSC_9357

The beautiful and talented Gloria Loring is always a crowd pleaser. Every time I see her on the red carpet she is one of the kindest celebrities I’ve ever met. We chatted about how she is now often introduced as Robin Thicke’s Mom. Of course,  Gloria’s son Robin Thicke is a media sensation after his song Blurred Lines topped the charts this past summer.  In our interview Gloria talks about what it is like to be Robin’s mom as well as her passion for helping out vets.  Click the video link:

I met with the American Military Spouses Choir in the press room. Here I pose with this awesome group. Many of you may remember how popular they were on the hit TV show America’s Got Talent. IMG_5525 (640x544)

If you loved the hit Broadway show Jersey Boys you are going to love the music of Under the Streetlamp. Their special brand of feel good doo wop will make your heart melt. Here is a shot of this young and talented group performing for a cause they passionately believe in.  (photo by Glen Lipton)DSC_9433 (640x427)

Hope you enjoy this FUN interview with Under the Streetlamp. Click the link:

The all girl group Cactus Crossing came all the way from Texas for this great cause. They were the powerful kick off to the telethon and did not disappoint. The audience loved them. (photo by Glen Lipton) DSC_8341 (640x427)

I had fun chatting with Cactus Crossing. Click the link for our interview:

These young women are delightful. Here we share My Cyndi’s Secrets – Shhhh!™ IMG_5499 (640x480)

Choreographers Napoleon & Tabitha A. D’umo known as NappyTabs from the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance arranged one of the most beautiful presentations of the night.  It was a performance of two dancing couples representing military couples and their love across the miles during the war. One of the couples was from the past while the other was modern day.  As Tabitha explained to me love is timeless. Click our interview:

How cool is this? Legendary Connie Francis came out to show her support for the troops. (photo by Glen Lipton) DSC_9627 (640x427)

Marty Papazian whom we all loved in the hit TV show “24” is now making a huge difference with his new critically acclaimed movie Least Among Saints.  Find out more. Click our video interview:

I was deeply touched by my conversation with Dr. Inge Guen, PsyD. She is a neuropsychologist and a member of the Service to the Armed Forces unit of the American Red Cross at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, Md. This woman has seen so many horrible things from the war that I’m sure I can’t even imagine. She has helped numerous military members and yet she maintains a genteel quality that is awe inspiring. If you view one video on this page make it this one. Here is a woman that not only talks about helping our wounded warriors but does so daily. She makes a huge difference and my life is better for having met her.  Please take the time to do your part in donating to help our vets. Click for our video interview:

Meet Jeffrey Alan Rochlin. He is a modern day poet and a vet with a powerful message. Click the video:

Ben Richards is a vet left with scars from the war. He unselfishly is doing his part to get help for all vets with PTSD and TBI. It was a privilege to meet this wonderful man who has sacrificed for our freedom. Click to find out what Ben has to say about the wonderful organization that helps vets called One MInd.

The audience loved the performance by John Schreffler (l)  and Charlie Hirsch (r) pictured below. (Photo by Glen Lipton) DSC_8373 (640x427)

Here is my interview with these extremely talented and caring men. Click the link:

What would a telethon for vets be without pinups? There certainly was no shortage at the Homeward Bound event.  Having posed myself for the American Spirit Pinup by famed artist Kent Steine to raise funds for the armed services groups and vets, I personally was delighted to meet this bevy of beautiful pinups. They have done a lot to raise moral and funds for the men and women of our military. We had fun chatting. Hope you enjoy our interview. Click the link:

Here I pose with Lindy Ross (l) and Peter Macias (r) from the American Red Cross. Always fun sharing” My Cyndi’s Secrets – Shhhh!™”. IMG_5514 (640x480)

It was a privilege to meet American Hero, Lieutenant Coronel Antonio Colmenares, USMC (Ret.) IMG_5526 (640x549) I hope you enjoyed todays presentation. However, it doesn’t stop there. We all must do our part to help our vets. It starts by saying THANK YOU to all the men and women of our armed services groups and to our veterans! Then we all must make a pledge to always take care of those who have sacrificed so much for our FREEDOM! God Bless America!

Thanks for  being a My Cyndi’s Secrets®-Shhhh™  member!

I say, share the JOY! Please donate to Homeward Bound at www.HomewardBoundTelethon.org
